Radical innovator and genre-blurring artist Rema is back with his new single, “Baby (Is It A Crime)”.  Sampling the iconic Sade and produced by P.Priime, the track first appeared last November as an unfinished snippet. Since then, it has taken on a life of its own, dominating the internet and soundtracking the unforgettable Detty December celebrations and beyond. Staying true to his unpredictable nature, Rema ventures into uncharted frequencies, crafting a refined and luxurious soundscape. What began as a spark of inspiration during a session in Kenya last year has transformed into a smooth, sonic masterpiece, solidifying Rema’s commitment to endless evolution. Accompanying the release is a vibrant video, filmed in London earlier this January, where Rema fully inhabits the song’s hypnotic energy. The single was BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders “Hottest Record” and precedes the official music video, which will drop at 3 pm GMT on 7th February.

Rema is the vanguard of a global Afrobeats revolution, blending boundary-pushing artistry with an unwavering commitment to excellence. In just a few years, he’s transcended borders, earning countless awards, breaking records, and creating anthems destined to outlive him. His critically acclaimed 2024 album, “HEIS”, was a watershed moment, earning Rema his first Grammy nomination for Best Global Album and cementing his name in music history. Last year culminated with a triumphant homecoming show at Benin City’s 12,000-seat Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, a testament to his roots and enduring connection to Benin City, Nigeria and Africa. 2025 is shaping up to be another monumental year for the unstoppable Rema.

Kicking things off, he already touched down in London, Paris, and LA, making waves along the way. Spotted courtside in Paris with Central Cee and hitting the studio to work on his next project, the stage is set for something big. With “Baby (Is It A Crime)” spiralling into a global sensation already, all that is left to do is to sit back and tune in.

About Rema

Rema's musical odyssey has propelled him and Afrobeats to global prominence, transcending borders and captivating audiences worldwide. With critically acclaimed projects, awards, chart-topping singles and sold-out tours internationally, Mavin Global artist Rema is on his unassailable ascent to worldwide superstardom. His stellar self-titled debut in 2019 will be remembered for defining a new era in African pop and his follow-up effort Rave and Roses, which is the highest-streamed project by an African artist. Just in the past year, the 24-year-old artist joined the illustrious Billions club (having amassed over seventy billion streams overall), earned a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit in “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez and rounded out the year with a sold-out stadium show at The O2 in London UK performing to over 20,000 fans. He’s claimed many “firsts” in his illustrious career, including a Guinness World Record (for the first No. 1 hit on MENA charts) and being the highest charting African artist in history on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning over one billion streams in the US — making Afrobeats history. The following year, Rema released one of his boldest music works yet, the sophomore album HEIS. The percussive and high-octane project was Rema’s exploration of the Afrobeats genre pioneered by the luminaries before him. The album was embraced by fans and critics alike, appearing on many “Best of 2024” albums list, with Rolling Stone crowning it as the “strongest contender for the best Afrobeats album of the year.” HEIS also earned Rema his first GRAMMY nomination in the “Best Global Music Album” category. A prolific collaborator, Rema has worked with a diverse roster of global artists, including Selena Gomez, Chris Brown, 6lack, AJ Tracey, Yseult, Shallipopi, and Skepta.
